SendPhotos is a new and modern photo sharing service that works on a variety of different platforms and provides a slick user interface. It offers all the usual features you would expect from a photo sharing service, but doesn't allow you to order prints or gifts. However, this is no bad thing as it has allowed the developers to concentrate on providing a great user experience. It's still in beta release at the moment so is constantly evolving and still contains some bugs here and there, but SendPhotos is worth a moment of your time.
SendPhotos works on a variety of different platforms and, as such, there are a variety of different ways to upload photos to your account. Probably the easiest way, in our opinion, is to download one of the desktop tools, available for Mac and PC, and get started that way. The tools both work quite similarly and provide a rich and intuitive interface for uploading, editing and organizing your photos. If you don't fancy this, SendPhotos is well supported on all manner of mobile devices. Dedicated iPhone and Android applications are available and also slightly more basic Symbian and Java versions which should work on a wide variety of mobile phones. These all provide an easy way to upload photos to your account while on the move.
Once you have some photos on your account it is easy to use the web based tools to organize them into albums and add comments and titles. Some of this can be a little bit buggy due to the service still being in its beta stage, but for the most part it works very well. It is also very easy to set the permissions on your albums so that you are in complete control of who can see your snaps. One of the permissions you can set is to allow your visitors to also add photos to your albums, which is great if you want the whole family to be able to store their pictures of an occasion in one place.
Another very useful feature of SendPhotos is that you have the ability to easily synchronise your photos between a Mac, PC and online account. This is ideal if perhaps you have a Mac laptop but work on a PC as it simplifies the process of organizing your photos and gives you extra security because they are in more than one place.
SendPhotos has the potential to be a very good photo sharing site. At the moment it is quite good but still has a few bugs to iron out and a few features to add. We like the fact it supports so many different mobile devices and operating systems though and would recommend it if you want a good mobile service. However, we would also recommend that you take a look at our top ten list of photo sharing services before making any decisions.
