Irista provides a very simple platform for uploading, storing and accessing your photos. It offers its users a choice of three membership options to suit their needs, and integrates well with social networking websites such as Facebook.
Free members can upload up to 15GB of photos, which is pretty generous given you don’t pay a cent. However, if you find this is quickly filling up, or you want a few more tools and features, you might consider paid membership.
The Value package provides up to 200GB of storage and your files can be any size. This unlimited file size is particularly interesting as it’s not something you find everywhere. You can also store your original photos as Jpegs, DNGs or RAW files, making sure you never lose that first image. Meanwhile, Premium membership allows you up to 500GB of storage, with the same useful tools as Value members. You can pay for a month or a year, with the yearly contract saving you around 2 months’ worth of fees. There are also vouchers available to provide further discounts.
We were pleased to see live support using an instant chat messenger service, as well as the usual help via FAQ. You can also easily check your account and billing details from your dashboard, where you can change your subscription with ease. Additional support can be found around the site by watching short tutorial videos.
Irista really is focused on sharing photos rather than any other media. You can produce photobooks in high definition, which you can print at home. If you’re interested in sharing other files, such as videos, we’d recommend going elsewhere.
Whilst irista.com did a few things pretty well, it just didn’t provide enough features and services to majorly impress us and fell into the trap of coming across as somewhat mediocre. It’s certainly not a bad site for storing and sharing photos, but there are plenty of others which do a similar job and have added extras such as more editing tools and the means to create a range of photo gifts.
If you’re new to photo sharing, then you might enjoy using irista because it’s pretty straightforward. It's also useful if you have large picture files which you want to keep safe. To make the most of it you’ll probably want to use a couple of social networking sites, which can link into your account, allowing you to upload and share files easily. However, this isn’t unique to this website, so it’s not necessarily a major selling point.
